and assists 6 sports.
Each sport is run by their own board of directors.

Current Information

  • Mark your calendar for Canby Kids Texas Hold'em Tournament Fundraiser October 11, 2008 at Canby Rod and Gun Club.  Details are being planned
  • Office Hours:  Monday - Thursday 8:30 to 1:30.  It is a one person office and errands need to be done from time to time, so it is advised to call first to make sure Carol will be in the office. 
  • Canby Kids Executive Board meetings are held every other even numbered month. (Subject to Change)
  • Due to the loss of our $25,000 City Grant we are in need of cash donations in order to keep our office open.

Founded in 1975, Canby Kids Inc is a non-profit 501(3)(C) umbrella organization for six sports who provide youth recreational and competitive teams sports opportunities for children in and around the Canby area on a year-round basis. Each sport has their own sport programs and affiliations, their own boards, their own financial accounts and play in leagues of their own choosing.  The Canby Kids Board is an all volunteer board that consists of five members at large and representatives from each sport.  The Members at Large supply the bulk of the volunteer work of Canby Kids.  There is one part time employee that staffs the office.  The Canby Kids office provides administrative services for all its sports by providing a 501(3)(C) tax status, tax reporting, office presence, managing field usage and turf maintenance, payroll reporting for sport field crews, and offering a means for all sports to work together in a cohesive fashion.  Over 500 volunteer parents, coaches, and supporters work in partnership with the Canby School District, our business community, and local government to provide competition in six sports, including Canby Junior Baseball, Canby Wildcats Softball, Canby United Soccer Association, Canby Cougar Football, Canby Cougar Wrestling and Canby Youth Lacrosse.

Each sport hosts a variety of tournaments. An example is the Canby Fall Classic Recreational Soccer Tournament. This is one of the premier Recreational Youth Soccer tournaments in the State of Oregon. Over the tournament weekend, over 10,000 tourists will visit the city to enjoy the youth soccer event. 

The Canby Kids office is supported by all its member sports.  Due to the loss in 2001 of our $25,000 City Grant, the Canby Kids board has had to been resourceful to keep the office open.  We have used a combination of fundraiser and per player fee of from all its member sports to replace the city grant funds.  In 2002, we formed a fundraising committee who organized a Dinner/Dance/Raffle& Auction event in the hopes of reducing the per player fee.  That fundraiser has had success, although it has not been able to replace the lost city grant.  100% of the proceeds from the Dinner/Auction will be used to reduce the sport fees for operation of Canby Kids. In addition to this event, we gladly accept any and all donations to the Canby Kids Scholarship Fund. This fund is used to assist those in financial need. 

The philosophy of Canby Kids is to provide a fulfilling and enjoyable sports experience for each player, regardless of skill level, ability to play, or ability to pay. We are proud of our record within the community and very much treasures our ability to work as a community partner in Canby. We look forward to many more years of serving the youth in Canby.
