One of the nation's most famous truck stops when 99E served as the main West Coast trucking corridor, the restaurant has a long reputation of quality food and good service.
While the I-5 freeway took truckers off of Hwy 99E, local patrons continued to enjoy the satisfying food and "country diner" atmosphere. Of course, truck drivers can still be found frequenting the restaurant.

At one time, the restaurant was open 24 hours a day, trucks filled parking lots on both sides of the street and "Top O Hill Cafe" featured overnight cottages in the rear. Opening in 1926, it was the only eating establishment between Portland and Salem.
