New Student entry...November 20, 2004...sent in by Miss Kaylie McKinley!!!
Holes
by Louis Sachar

I like this book because it is a Mystery and humorous at the same time. This book is about a mouse with four small children who is faced with a terrible problem. She must move her family immediately or face almost certain death...but her youngest son, Timothy, lies ill with pneumonia and must not be moved. Fortunately, she encounters the Rats of NIMH, extraordinary, highly intelligent creatures that come up with a brilliant idea to her dilemma.

BAT 6 by Virginia Euwer Wolff

Ever wonder what happened back in the late 1940's, after World War II, around the time your grandparents were young? In the book Bat 6 it tells a little bit of what happened to 6th graders in two towns near Portland, Oregon.

The story is about how two girls on two different baseball teams await the traditional game in the Spring called Bat 6. Only this year is different. There's a new girl on both teams and each is inbelievably good. Both girls also have a dark secret.

On game day all they can do is watch.

Our Thoughts on the Book:

  • Good book, but a little confusing.
  • Great entries with lots of original words and descriptions. Interesting and well written.
  • This book could be good to someone who likes sports and reading from different points of view.
  • It's a really good book and I encourage other kids to read it. Have fun!
  • Read it now!
