~Activities~
Each month, members receive a calendar full of fun activities for you and your kids. Listed below are some of our favorites. If you have ideas for new activities, please let a board member know. Your children are always welcome at our daytime events.
Book Club
We have many avid readers in our club. Members gather to discuss books of a variety of topics.
Coffee Breaks
Take a breather in the midst of your busy morning and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends at a local coffee shop.
Family Activities
These are great events that include the Dads, too! Each year we hold a huge family picnic with plenty of games for everyone and we go on a weekend camping trip each September.
Group Activities
We have several planned activities each week. We have visited farms, children's museums, parks, the zoo, kid-friendly restaurants, and the list goes on, and on!
Helping Hands
This committee arranges to bring meals to members who have just experienced the joy of a new baby and to members coping with illness or the loss of a loved one.
Meetings
Our General Membership meeting is held the second Thursday of each month from 9:30-11:30 am. Chapter business is discussed and we often have a guest speaker or craft activity. Babies are always welcome to stay with their moms during our meetings. Toddlers and older children may love the opportunity to play with others their age in the nursery (childcare is provided by chapter members on a rotating basis) or may stay with you during the meeting.
Mom's Night Out and Couple's Events
Each month we plan an evening event for grown-ups only. Previous Mom's Nights Out have included movies, dinner at nice restaurants or simply meeting at a member's home to chat and relax. We like to schedule a couple's night every now and then also. It may be a progressive dinner or a game night. Both of these activities are very popular!
Mom's Weekend Away
Leave the kids with daddy and head for the beach. This annual trip has become a favorite activity that we look forward to all year. It's a great time to relax, get to know each other and get away from it all. What you do while you're there is completely up to you- go shopping, go out to eat (no kid's menus!), catch up on your reading, or just SLEEP!
Parties
We have many parties for the kids throughout the year. We have a Bubble Party and Family Picnic in the summer, parties to celebrate Valentine's Day, Halloween, and the December Holidays, and an Easter Egg Hunt in the spring.
Playgroups
We hold bi-weekly, age-appropriate playgroups, which meet at member's homes, parks, etc. Each group does their own planning.
Secret Sisters
During the course of a year, those involved in the Secret Sister program treat their Secret Sister anonymously by mail, gift bags at membership meetings, or delivery via third-party. These treats are anything from a supportive card with a stick of her favorite gum to a gift basket at Christmas. At the moms' Christmas party, we give our final Secret Sister gift of the year and, if we choose to, reveal ourselves.
