Worship Service
Our 11:00am worship service
(10:00am in the Summer) draws on the best of
our long standing Christian traditions, while maintaining a relaxed
and friendly environment. It is distinguished, but not stuffy,
respectful, but not somber. The music and the preaching reflect the
up-beat optimism of life in Christ.
In this service we celebrate the presence of
God's Spirit in our lives with song, prayer, scripture and a heart-felt
message.
Following worship each week, we enjoy a time of
visiting and light refreshments in our social hall. It can be a good
time to sit down and get to know some of the people who are a part
of our community of faith.
Our summer worship schedule will
begin on Sunday, June 6th. Worship will commence at 10:00am
and we will return to our regular worship time in the fall on
Sunday, September 12th at 11:00am. Sunday school will resume
on that same day at 9:30am.
Communion
Canby United Methodist Church celebrates the
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month,
and on special occasions during the year. Ours is an open table. It
is not required that recipients be members of our congregation to
receive the sacrament. Children are welcome to receive along with
their parents. In the United Methodist tradition we use grape
juice, not wine, in the communion elements.
