Written Report by Charlie Piert
- We have completed the planning phase for the
upcoming 2006 season and are in the process of making the switch over to
the execution phase. Below are the upcoming events
- Registration: Everything is set-up for on-line
registration. People can now register using this process. For those
unable to use the on-line registration, we will host (2) evenings of
registration on 2/2/06 and 2/7/06 at Knight School from 6:00-8:00pm. We
will also have hard copies of the registration forms available at the
Canby Kids office if people are not able to attend the registration
evenings.
- Coaches Selections: As part of the on-line
registration, we will also be accepting Coaches Applications on-line as
well. If people are not able to apply on-line, they can pick-up a hard
copy of the application form at one of our registration evenings or
pick-up a copy at the Canby Kids Office. Coaching selections are
scheduled to take place on 2/19/06. We are hoping get people interested
in coaching to apply while registering on-line.
- Team Placements: Midget & Town League Team
Placements will be held on 3/4/06 at Knight School from noon-2:00pm.
Juniors on 3/11/06 at Knight School from 9:00-11:00am and Seniors on
3/11/06 at the High School from 2:00-4:00pm
- Practice season will begin after Spring Break,
starting 4/3/06.
- Capital Improvements: Canby Junior Baseball is
also looking at making some capital improvements. One of the major
investments we are looking at doing is building an indoor facility (48'
x 156') which we are hoping to get approved and built by 2007. We have
selected a few areas in which we are looking to get an approval to build
this facility. One location is between Eccles and Knight School, just
off the current parking lot at Eccles. The other location is at Eccles
School, near the shed that was built last year. Our thought is that
this facility could be a year round facility, also utilized by other
Canby Kids Sports. Currently, we have arranged to bring this up with
the School Board for their approval. We are on the agenda this month
for their 1/19/06 meeting. If we get all necessary approvals, we will
move forward to get plans made and take things the Planning commission.
Softball: Verbal report from Shantel:
- February 5th is set for their Super
Bowl Breakfast Fundraiser at Cutsforth’s Community Hall from 8:00 as to
1:00 pm. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family
Office Report: Verbal report by Carol
- Canby Kids AGM is scheduled for February 15th
at The Seasons at 7:00 pm. There is one Member at Large position to be
elected. John Vredenburg has held that position and is willing to
continue to serve. If one wishes to run for that position, a resume
will need to be submitted to the Canby Kids office before the election.
- A copy machine was donated to the Canby Kids
office. It is in need of a service call to diagnosis some glitches and
that would cost $100 for the initial service evaluation and an unknown
amount for any needed repairs. Carol has no need for the machine, but
it is available to any sport or sports who wish to share in the
maintenance of the machine. The machine is capable of several high
level functions and would be useful for large projects.
Old Business:
- Financial Policy: After receiving some input from
various sources, some changes were proposed on the financial policy
draft.
New Business:
- Charlie requested some input from the board
regarding the capital improvement mentioned in his report. His first
location choice would affect one soccer field that might be able to move
a bit to accommodate both uses. He was advised to contact soccer about
his proposal.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:11 pm
Respectfully submitted
Vicki Pounds Secretary/Treasurer
