Canby Kids Board Meeting

April 11, 2007

Meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm at The Seasons meeting room.

Special Presentation: Nancy Bennett from the Canby Center made a presentation outlining the history and goals of the faith based Canby Center. The purpose of her presentation was to create awareness of their group and soliciting partnerships where there is potential for community growth.

Minutes from December was presented and approved.

Treasurer report was approved as submitted.

Football (Lawrence Lais verbal report):

Football has started online registration with Bonzi and has received a quarter of last year’s registrations in three days

There was some questions about the Canby Kids Admin per player fee which were answered

Baseball (Janet Sanders verbal report):

The season is starting up

There have been conflicts with soccer practices (soccer will remind coaches about off season policies)

Baker Prairie needs work done and they are working of finding funds and plan to bring it up to playing standards

Soccer (Jacie McElhinny verbal report):

Classic tryouts May 3-6

Trying to sign up with Bonzi for online registrations

Fall Classic date: September 22 & 23

New board has been elected and new president and vice president

Turf Maintenance (John Vredenburg verbal report):

Erin Johnston with Clackamas County has a grant to work with youth in Canby and will be working through Canby Kids to administer his soccer program. He might be able to expand to other sports.

Robert Blake is the CSD grounds keeper (503-969-6170) and is the contact person for all school fields (except the High School). Also, there is a year round part time person hired so the school fields will be mowed once a week. If there is a need for more mowing, the fields can be mowed on weekends and after school hour, but arrangements need to be made ahead of time. If there are questions or special requests, contact Robert. Last year there were problems with the watering during an event, the water got turned off, was never turned back on and turf was damaged from lack of water. Please contact Robert if there are issues.

Lacrosse (Frank Lambert verbal report):

Many thanks to Canby Kids for their help in Lacrosse jump start their first season

There is one team of 16 players of 7^th & 8^th graders (one 6^th grader) and their first home game will be at the football field on Aril 19^th at 6:00. Frank invited all to come and watch the game

Softball (Shantel Harney verbal report):

Teams are starting practices

They are looking at online registrations

Baker Prairie is being worked on to bring online
