We offer the following Arboricultural Consulting Services:
Tree Selection
and Acquirement
Selecting the right tree for the right place is a very important consideration. We will recommend a tree to fit both the site preferences and the preferences of the owner. Exposure, size, and plant characteristics such as flower, fall leaf color, and shape enter into the recommendation. Trees are then selected that meet professional quality specifications including the structure of the root system, and the budget requirements.
Pre and Post Monitoring
of the Installation
Trees need be installed properly to maintain quality, health, and vigor. Proper planting depth, removal of wire baskets and twine, preparation of the planting site, drainage, support, fertilization and mulching are some of the steps that will need to be monitored. Post monitoring will include visits to be sure the trees are adapting well to their new home.
Inspection of
Tree Growers for Compliance to Standards
Over 80 percent (some say 90 percent,
or more) of all landscape tree problems originate below ground. Because planting depth can have such an
adverse effect on tree health and root systems, we offer inspection of trees
grown in the Pacific Northwest for compliance to The American Standard for
Nursery Stock (ANSI
Z60.1, 2004 1.6.3 Root ball depth) which states that, for B&B trees, “Depth
of the ball is measured from the top of the ball, which in all cases shall begin
at the root flare. Soil above the root
flare, from being deeply planted in the nursery as a young plant, as a result
of maintenance practices in the nursery, or added during harvest, shall not be
included in ball depth measurement.” We
will also inspect for stem girdling roots and roots that encircle the stems of trees
along with other potential problems in an effort to minimize the time and
expense needed to adjust root balls on site or to reject the trees.
Advisor for
Tree Protection and Retention during Development Projects
The site will be inspected and a plan worked out to protect established trees during the construction period. Implementation of the approved plan and monitoring compliance to it will be performed to assure that the trees maintain their health and beauty after the construction period.
Inventory and
Develop Management Plans for Tree Plantings
Trees in public parks and street tree plantings may be inspected and inventoried for their variety, size, and condition. Recommendations and plans may be made for short and long term care in order to assure their health, safety, and functionality.
Hazard Tree
Evaluation
Trees may be inspected and a recommendation made to remedy the hazardous or potentially hazardous situation. We encourage this evaluation even in young trees in order to correct potential problems before they become hazardous.
